How to sell your story

1:

Complete the submission form, at the bottom of this page, with a basic outline of your story, or contact one of our helpful staff by telephone.  Once you have made contact with us, we will contact you to find out more about your story.   Don’t be nervous, we want to hear from you.

We may ask you for a photograph of yourself.  You can send this by email. This will remain private and confidential and definitely NOT for publication.  Some newspapers and magazines ask for a photograph of the person providing the story, before a story is submitted for publication.

Nothing you say, will appear in print and none of your pictures will be published, without your express permission.

2:

When you approach us with a story, we will always ask for proof that what you are saying is TRUE.

It is helpful, if you have photographs and documents to back up your story before contacting us.

If you are unsure what sort of proof you will need, you can still contact us and we will be able to help you.

3:

We will then prepare a brief outline of your story and start approaching magazines and newspapers on your behalf.  We will agree with you, what sort of publications you would like to appear in (or not as the case may be).

We will then ask you to sign a Front Page News contract. This outlines our agreement with you on what you can expect us to do for you. It also confirms that we become your sole agent and that we will represent you.  You will, from this point onwards, work only with us and not any other agencies.

4:

We will shop around for you to get you the best deal for your story.

Once we have an received an offer for your story, we will contact you and agree with you, whether you’re happy to go ahead.   Once you agree, we will conduct a more detailed interview with you.  This will either take place over the phone, or we can come and meet you in person.  We may bring a photographer with us to take your picture.  We may bring a hair and make up artist too, so you look your best.

You’ll also be asked to sign a contract from the publication you are appearing in.  This confirms your fee from the newspaper or magazine and also guarantees to them that you won’t be talking to any other newspaper or magazine.

5:

Once the story is written, we will read it back to you to make sure you are happy with it. If there are changes you want to make to the text, then let us know.  We want you to be happy with the finished story.

6:

We will try to place your story in as many publications as possible, with your permisssion.  You may go on to appear on Television or Radio.

You may be the subject of a television interview or documentary.  Some have even signed book deals or film rights.

7:

You’ll be paid once the story is printed.  Usually within 4-6 weeks of publication.
